About Waldo Emerson Inn
Waldo Emerson Inn, named after the famous poet of the same name, is nestled in picturesque Kennebunk, Maine. Much like the poetry of the Inn’s namesake, Waldo Emerson Inn is beautiful and serene, the perfect refuge from the chaos of modern life. Originally built by Waldo Emerson, the great uncle of Ralph Waldo Emerson, in 1753, it is one of the oldest remaining houses in Kennebunk and was named after the prolific poet after he was rumored to have spent 10 summers at the house, so he could focus on his writing. Arriving at the Inn you’ll see just why he may have taken refuge here, as nowhere else could be more calming or serene.
Maine in summer truly comes alive, and with Waldo Emerson Inn, they’ve got you covered for any beachcombing adventure your heart may desire. Guests have access to bicycles and riding up and down the shoreline is an experience not to be missed. Or for those that feel like staying in, little station “bars” have been set up all around the property and offer cocktails as well as other goodies like fresh-baked bread. Relax in one of the two beautiful and spacious parlors and sip wine, bask in the glow of the fireplace, or play a rousing game of chess. And who could forget the fabulous breakfasts at our Kennebunkport, Maine bed and breakfast? Wake up to delicious homemade granola, blueberry muffins, and other assorted delights. For hot breakfast, tried and true bacon and omelets are served daily in addition to a unique taste of local fare, cheesy lobster grits! Wander down to the beach and enjoy the sunset, stay in and relax with company, or whatever your heart desires! Waldo Emerson Inn has something for everyone.
